RTW round up is a space dedicated to updating you guys on what we have been up to, thoughts over the month and life in general.

December has flown by in an instant.  We began the month by saying goodbye to my mum and dad as they departed Perth to start their own crazy adventure, Shaun moved in to his new workshop and I got very wifey and started sewing, so much that I launched my own Etsy Shop. I feel like their is a lot of adulting going on lately!

Blackstar Customs Fabrication workshop

Blackstar Customs Fabrication workshop is officially open for business.  It’s a very excited time for us at the moment to see where this venture takes us. Shaun already has a few jobs lined up so that’s a great start. Wish us luck for 2018.

Please give Shaun some support by following his Instagram @blackstar_customs

Lazy Sunday Morning

So as you may know, I love being creative.  In preparation for our wedding I got a bit DIY crazy. I wanted our wedding to truly represent us and that meant designing and creating things ourselves. I loved all of the DIY projects on the lead up to the wedding (details to come in my upcoming wedding blog post). Post wedding I was missing that creative outlet so I continued designing and creating jewellery, macrame and dreamcatchers. I’ve also taken to sewing cushions and bags. All of this stuff was starting to take over my office so I decided to launch an Etsy Shop to sell my creations online.

Head over to my Etsy Shop, Lazy Sunday Morning, to check out some of my designs. And put in a cheeky order if you like!

Update on life plans

For a while now we have been busy planning one of the biggest adventures of our lives … driving around the world. Yup you read that correctly.  One car, 5 continents and a journey spanning multiple years. It’s the ultimate trip of all trips.

Planning headquarters

The problem is, something like this requires money and a lot of it. So this plan will be in the “planning” phase for the next few years whilst we save the money necessary to pack in our jobs and get back on the road. Our current estimation is that we will be ready to set off in 2020. Watch this space.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

This year we stayed home for Christmas. Life has been pretty hectic for the last few months with the wedding, entertaining family and work so when Christmas came around we really wanted to do absolutely nothing. Even packing the van for a roadtrip felt like too much effort. Instead we stayed home, cooked a nice meal, went to the beach and watched Christmas movies. To be honest a Christmas without family just isn’t Christmas at all. And especially not when it’s 37 degrees!

We ended the year camping in the sand dunes just north of Perth, in Wilbinga. We managed to find a pretty secluded spot in the dunes next to the ocean. We had a fun day together 4WDing and of course popped the prosecco at midnight.

Thank you

I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for reading along this year; friends, family and strangers alike. I kind of lost my enthusiasm for blogging during the year. Having my feet in one place for too long really demotivates me, especially when I mainly write about travel. However, what I have realised is that we have plenty of travel adventures right here in WA. So in 2018 you will see more posts about what we get up to here ‘at home’ as well as these casual catch ups as I really enjoy writing them. But seriously, these itchy feet need to get on a plane pretty darn soon!

Wishing you all the very best for 2018.

À la perchoine, Jodie
